UC Berkeley CED

The College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley recently faced the challenge of updating their studio facilities to accomodate digital design, while still allowing for the use of traditional drafting processes. The furniture had to withstand student use and abuse, and be adaptable enough to conform to an evolving architectural layout. Swerve's solution? The Two-Track Table, a super strong, scalable piece with cast aluminum legs and support rails (weighing in at a sturdy 3.5 lbs per linear foot). We designed a number of versions, with various tops: Kydex, urethane coated bamboo, and paper phenolic resin. It's strong enough to stand on, and versatile enough to land in the renowned Design Within Reach catalog.
